Davidson Lake

Committee Meeting August 2nd, 2009

A general meeting was held on August 2, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. in the Dumfries Fire Hall to discuss the formation of a Davidson Lake Association.  There were 35 people in attendance.

Ken Donald gave a presentation on the advantages of having an association to represent the interests of lake residents and users.  After a brief discussion, there was a call for a motion to form an association.

• Don Veysey, seconded by Roland Lagacy, moved that a Davidson Lake Association be formed to protect the ecosystem of Davidson Lake and its watershed.  Motion carried.

• Wayne Carnell, seconded by Doug Ashfield, resolved that persons currently serving as the Davidson Lake Steering Committee be declared as the interim Board of Directors for the Davidson Lake Association.  Motion carried.

• In order to establish some direction for the interim Board of Directors, Andy Morton, seconded by Steven Leslie, moved that the interim Board of Directors proceed with the necessary steps to create a permanent Davidson Lake Association as a non-profit entity with appropriate constitution and by-laws.  Motion carried.

The time and place of a future general meeting will be determined by the interim Board of Directors who will report on the development of the Association. The announcement of the next meeting will be communicated to area residents and landowners well in advance, along with the agenda.

With no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:40 p.m.
