Algae
Algae in Davidson Lake is becoming an increasing concern. Many lakes in New Brunswick and other parts of the country have been partly or fully closed to swimming and other water activities due to dangerous toxins given off by some types of algae (please see the following website for more information http://www.gnb.ca/0053/blue_green/cyanobacteria-e.asp ). One easy way we can help control dangerous toxic algae is to eliminate the phosphates from the cleaning products we use every day. Here is a website with a list of phosphate-free products. Many of these products are commonly known and you may already be using some of them so please check the products you are using to ensure they are phosphate free.
